First meetings are immensely important, as human beings are inclined to form images of others, seconds after meeting them. Hence, it is important to set a good impression.

However, this was not the case for Paul Mescal as he had one of the most embarrassing first meetings with none other than the Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman.

Their first encounter was extremely embarrassing as Mescal was in his sweaty underwear when he met the Bombshell actress.

While Paul Mescal could have worn pants before introducing himself to Nicole Kidman, he also comes up with a reasonable and hilarious explanation of why wearing pants in front of someone can get embarrassing and how his clothing choice was justifiable.

Nevertheless, he was flushed and unable to interpret that he met Nicole Kidman while wearing sweaty underwear.

Paul Mescal’s Embarrassing Encounter With Nicole Kidman

Despite celebrities showcasing unshakeable confidence, they too can fluster and have uncomfortable moments.

Such was the case with Paul Mescal. During an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the God’s Creatures actor stated that he got the opportunity to meet Nicole Kidman.

The 56-year-old actress paid a surprise visit at a recent showing of his London production of A Streetcar Named Desire, in which he portrayed the role of Stanley Kowalski.

The actor stated that he had no knowledge that Kidman was there to watch the show.

He was sharing the dressing room with his other castmates, and someone knocked at the door while they were changing.

Mescal thought that it was the stage manager so he opened the door while he was in his underwear.

“We thought it was the stage manager or something and I go to open the door. It’s Nicole Kidman, and I’m standing there in, like, sweaty underwear.”

A discomposed Paul Mescal added that the wise thing would be to “put on some trousers,” but he feels that it is quite undignified and that nobody would like to be caught in such a position.

“You’d think the next smart step is [to] put on some trousers, but there’s something incredibly undignified about the act of [pulling up pants]. It’s not a look you want to be caught in, [bending] over.”

Mescal shared a half-dressed hug with Nicole Kidman, and after she left, they just “turn to each other like, ‘What the hell just happened?’”

Nevertheless, the Oscar-winning actress was impressed by the show, as Jimmy Kimmel asked if she talked about the “magic of the film?” and he gave a nod.

Paul Mescal Had A Hard Time Getting Used To Fame

Paul Mescal is one of the hottest actors in the movie industry currently, after his performance in the 2020 BBC romantic drama series Normal People landed him in the limelight.

The show was a massive hit, making him a known face, but this led to a massive change in the actor’s life that gave him a difficult time to get used to.

During an exclusive interview with The Guardian, the Gladiator 2 actor talked about his “life-changing” experience.

“It has been career-changing and life-changing. This is my first time in Australia, and I’m here with work, and it’s all because of Normal People. I’m incredibly grateful for it but, yeah – it has been crazy.”

The show was not only life-changing for Mescal but also his co-star, Daisy Edgar-Jones, as shared her experience in the same interview about how the success of the show has been a life-changer for her as well.

“It certainly has definitely been a life-changer.

This year has been a strange time for everyone and life has changed fundamentally for everybody at the minute.

But Normal People has done such huge things for Paul and I, and it’s crazy to think that so many people have seen it.

That’s still something I can’t actually believe. It’s a very odd thing to get your head around.”

Normal People is one of the rare TV Series that captivates the attention of the audience, as both of them play emotionally resonant characters, with a gripping romance, and a bittersweet ending, making the show a must-watch.
