Players around the association found themselves featured in highlights — or on the wrong end of them — this week in the NBA.
From Collin Sexton to Anthony Edwards, here are the top plays of the week.
Save it for the dunk contest
George puts a lob off the glass to Sexton for a jam
Collin Sexton tosses it up to Keyonte George, who puts it off the glass to Sexton for a dunk.
Though the 2024 NBA slam dunk contest came and went in February, the Utah Jazz pulled off a play against the Washington Wizards on Monday that would have scored a perfect 50.
Early in the first quarter, Wizards forward Deni Avdija turned the ball over and the Jazz went the other way. Leading the 2-on-1 fast-break, Sexton threw a lob to rookie Keyonte George, but it was a bit far. George improvised on the fly and threw another pass off the backboard back to Sexton, who finished the play with an electric jam.

Alperen Sengun throws down powerful jam vs. San Antonio Spurs
Houston’s Alperen Sengun throws down powerful jam vs. San Antonio Spurs
Another play, another dunk.
This time, the opponent was just a bit taller than usual.
Alperen Sengun, the Houston Rockets center, might have a story to tell his grandkids one day. He can officially claim that he dunked over 7-foot-4 rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama, a feat claimed by few. Sengun also had a career-high 45 points the same night.
Coming off a pick-and-roll action with Fred VanVleet in the fourth quarter against the San Antonio Spurs, Sengun dove to the basket and shook Wembanyama with a move before dunking over the French center.
The D stands for dunk and defense
Trayce Jackson-Davis blocks Giannis twice, follows with alley-oop
Warriors big man Trayce Jackson-Davis blocks Giannis Antetokounmpo twice, then comes down and flushes home alley-oop.
Golden State Warriors rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis made sure his impact was felt Wednesday when the Warriors faced the scorching Milwaukee Bucks.
In the third quarter, Giannis Antetokounmpo drove to the basket and attempted a dunk but was met at the rim by Jackson-Davis. Antetokounmpo tried again after grabbing the offensive rebound but was again denied by the rookie on a layup attempt.
The Warriors went the other way and Jackson-Davis received a one-handed lob from Stephen Curry and threw it down with authority, much to the delight of the Chase Center crowd.
Watch your head!
Anthony Edwards hits head on the backboard on game-saving block
Anthony Edwards soars to deny the Pacers’ game-tying layup attempt and secure the win for the Timberwolves.
Last but not least, Edwards had one of the most memorable plays of his young career.
With a chance to seal the game versus the Indiana Pacers, Edwards missed the free throw and the Pacers went the other way on a fast-break opportunity.
Edwards sprinted 94 feet down and denied Aaron Nesmith’s layup.
Edwards said in a postgame interview that was the highest he has ever jumped.
