The Miami Dolphins have some interest in veteran playmaker, Odell Beckham Jr.
Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel spoke to reporters about the team’s early offseason at the NFL annual meeting Monday at the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes and informed everyone that the Dolphins and Odell Beckham Jr. remain in contact on a potential deal.
Beckham visited the team’s facility last week but left without signing a contract, but McDaniel made it clear that both sides are continuing to negotiate.
“Things went great with him,” McDaniel said, via Yahoo Sports. “We did make him an offer and business takes time, especially with players such as Odell, who’s had a phenomenal career, still has really good football in front of him and has options. So, I think those conversations will be ongoing. We’ll see where they go.”
He added: “I don’t live in the world of crystal balling and I do stay in my lane as a coach. I’m definitely ready to coach him if we can come to an agreement and I think both sides are trying to work towards that. We’ll see what happens.”
After one season with the Baltimore Ravens, Odell Beckham Jr. is a free agent once again. With him being available and the Dolphins needing another wide receiver, it just makes sense.
The biggest question regarding whether Beckham will land in Miami or not is his asking price. The Miami Dolphins do not have a ton of cap space and are not looking to overpay for a third WR option when they still have needs elsewhere.
Odell Beckham Jr. signing in Miami sounds nice but he would need to take much less if he wants to play on a Super Bowl contender.
Odell Beckham Jr. Gets Released by The Baltimore Ravens After One Season
Earlier this month, Odell Beckham Jr. was released from the Baltimore Ravens which immediately made the wide receiver an unrestricted free agent after playing just one season with the Ravens. His release date is June 1, which means the team can split the “dead” money between 2024 and 2025.
Last offseason, Odell signed a $15 million deal, but void years kept the 2023 salary cap below $5 million.
He suffered from injuries for part of the year but was still able to finish second on the team for receiving yards. During the 2023 season, Odell made 35 catches and accumulated 565 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He could very well go from a Super Bowl contender to another one this year.
