Former Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl cornerback Tre’Davious White his taking his talents to La La Land.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Tre’Davious White is signing a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams worth up to $10 million. White was released by the Bills in a cap-saving move earlier this month.
Two years ago, the Rams lost future Hall of Famer Von Miller to the Bills in free agency. Fast forward two years later, and the Rams have now picked up a former Buffalo superstar now to bolster their defense.
The Bills designated White as a post-June 1st cut, thus saving $10.2 million in cap space. They also released Pro Bowl safety Jordan Poyer and standout center Mitch Morse, while allowing safety Micah Hyde and wide receiver Gabe Davis leave in free agency.
But Tre’Davious White will now get the chance to regain his All-Pro form and potentially set himself up for a lucrative long-term deal in 2025 free agency.
The 29-year-old Tre’Davious White was among football’s elite defensive backs during his first four NFL seasons (2017 to 2020). He was named to two Pro Bowls and earned First-team and Second-team All-Pro nods in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
Unfortunately, injuries have limited the 2017 first-round pick to 21 total game appearances over the last three years. White suffered a season-ending ACL tear late in 2021 and missed most of the 2022 campaign recovering from the injury.
In Week 4 of the 2023 season, White suffered a torn Achilles tendon that once again ended his campaign abruptly. White’s Bills went on to lose to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round.
Tre’Davious White Should Be A Great Addition For The Rams
The Rams lost franchise icon and future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald to retirement earlier this month, so White’s arrival will be a nice morale booster for the retooling NFC West team.
White joins a young Rams defense led by young studs Byron Young and Kobie Turner. Additionally, the Rams signed defensive backs Kamren Curl and old friend Darious Williams to add further depth to the secondary.
If White can stay healthy, he could be a valuable addition to a Rams team that’s back on the up after finishing 10-7 a year ago.
