One player’s tenure with the Los Angeles Rams has come to an end as NFL organizations continue to cut players from their offseason rosters.
The Los Angeles Rams made an unexpected announcement on Thursday, even though they are not required to reduce their roster to 53 players until September. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports that fourth-year receiver Ben Skowronek was let go by the organization.
Cutting Skowronek and $21,131 in dead money frees up $1,055,000 in cap space for Los Angeles, according to OverTheCap.
The 26-year-old was previously selected by the Rams in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. He had a four-year rookie contract for $3.6 million going into its last year.
Skowronek was a seventh-round pick in 2021 and has played 45 games for Los Angeles in the last three seasons. In 2022, he made 11 starts, caught 39 catches for 376 yards, and scored one touchdown on the ground. It was his most outstanding season to date.
Last season, Skowornek not only made an offensive contribution but also captained the special teams. In 2023, he participated in 71% of the special teams snaps, a career-high, via ESPN.com.
This year, the Rams selected Texas wideout Jordan Whittington in the sixth round of the draft, endangering Skowronek’s employment. This offseason, they also re-signed Tyler Johnson and Demarcus Robinson, so they have an abundance of wide receiver depth.

The Rams were one of the NFL’s biggest surprises in 2023, thanks mainly to an outstanding rookie class.
One season away from a terrible 5-12 record, the Los Angeles Rams made a wild card place in the playoffs after an unexpected 10-7 season in 2023.
