The New York Giants have signed a wide receiver in free agency.

Allen Robinson II, a former wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has signed with the New York Giants. They kept the specifics of the agreement under wraps.

As part of a receiver group that includes Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt, Wan’Dale Robinson, Isaiah Hodgins, and Isaiah McKenzie, Robinson can mentor first-round choice Malik Nabers.

Robinson played every game as a starter for the Steelers during his final season in Pittsburgh. In addition to having two catches in the team’s playoff defeat to the Bills, he caught 34 passes for 280 yards during the regular season.

After spending one season with the Rams and two four-year stints with the Bears and Jaguars, he joined the Steelers. He has 562 catches for 7,028 yards and 43 touchdowns throughout his NFL career.

The 6-2 and 220-pound veteran wide receiver will bring a veteran presence to the New York Giants. His only Pro Bowl year came in 2015 when his 14 touchdown catches tied the NFL lead and set the Jaguars’ single-season franchise record.

The New York Giants have needed help finding a quarterback to replace Eli Manning since his retirement. Even when they had him in the late stage of his career, things were not going well.

The Giants made the postseason in 2022 and won a Wild card game, but that remains the only winning season the franchise has had since 2016. In Fact, the Giants have just three winning seasons since they won the Super Bowl in 2011, via Profootballreference.com.

Last year, the team finished in third place in the NFL East with a 6-11 record.
