Recently, Shaq caused a stir on social media by releasing a new diss track aimed at Shannon Sharpe, a retired NFL player and three-time Super Bowl champion. The basketball player, also known as “The Big Diesel,” has shared a song on his Instagram account.

The controversy between the two legends began after Nikola Jokic was announced as the 2024 KIA NBA MVP award winner, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was placed second on the list. Following this, Shaquille O’Neal was invited to the ‘Inside the NBA on TNT’ podcast with Nikola Jokic. During the podcast, Shaq expressed his happiness for Jokic and mentioned that he felt Shai Gilgeous-Alexander deserved to be the MVP this year.

Shaq’s comments sparked a response from Shannon Sharpe on the ‘Nightcap’ podcast, where he accused Shaq of being jealous of Jokic. Sharpe further stated that when someone is historically great, they are often referred to as the GOAT, and Shaq is never brought up in such conversations.

Shaquille O’Neal responded to Shannon Sharpe’s bold statement by sharing a screenshot of a Google search on his Instagram account. The screenshot showed Sharpe ranked 51 among the NFL’s 100 greatest players. Shaq wrote a long paragraph in the caption of the post.

“You took me sticking up for Shai as jealousy?? Shows how smart you are and how you say anything to get clicks. So here’s some clickbait for you. If you ain’t ranked in the top ten in your profession, then you can’t speak on Me. Don’t forget I know what you did to get where you are. I am jealous, lol. It sounds like you are jealous. I know you tryna stay relevant by gossiping on your podcast. We don’t believe you. You need more people and in case you forgot. Four rings, three finals, MVP top 50, and top 75. google me. And to be quite frank, with all this new success you have had, you are still under me.” Shaq wrote in his post.

“I Am Better Than You”

In his diss track, Shaq trolled Sharpe and claimed that he is “worth more” than the former NFL star.

“You don’t know my work ethic. but according i work less than you but im worth more than you. Make it make sense. Love you too. If you need help making money, it’s better ways than gossiping. I’m too old for this shit. Love always, the most dominant big man ever who never took it seriously. remember i don’t know you.
