It is time to continue our NHL odds series with a Vancouver Canucks vs. Edmonton Oilers Game 3 prediction, pick, and how-to-watch.

canucks oilers prediction

With how the season ended for these teams, it’s hard to believe that the Vancouver Canucks had home-ice advantage. The Oilers were one of the best teams in the league for the last three-quarters of the season but failed to catch Vancouver for first place in the Pacific Division. Their failure to catch Vancouver shows just how badly their season went for the first quarter. The Oilers came dangerously close to going down 2-0 in the series, trailing 3-2 into the third period of Game 2. However, a Connor McDavid goal tied it up, and then McDavid recorded his fourth point with an assist on Evan Bouchard’s winner. It is time to continue our NHL odds series with a Canucks-Oilers prediction, pick, and how-to-watch.

The Canucks hot start to the season helped them stay in front of the Oilers by five points. It almost paid off, as they rode the wave of a crazy home ice advantage to nearly take a 2-0 lead. The Canucks were lucky to win Game 1, as they were down 4-1 before scoring four unanswered goals for a comeback that almost tore the roof off of Rogers Arena. People questioned if the Canucks could hang with the Oilers in a seven-game series, but these first two games showed that the Canucks may be the favorite.

The Oilers’ postseason struggles are well-documented. They’ve been unable to get over the hump, but Connor McDavid made it clear during the preseason that this year was Stanley Cup or bust. The season started as badly as you could imagine, but they’ve turned it around. Will they take control of the series at home in Games 3 and 4?

Why The Canucks Will Cover The Spread/Win

The injury to Thatcher Demko was a disaster for Vancouver. They had to turn to Casey DeSmith for Game 2 against Nashville, but then he got injured, which paved the way for Arturs Silovs. Silovs started Game 4 and won two of three games to get the Canucks the series win. He’s performed fine in the first two games of the second round, and he can steal Game 3 for the Canucks.

Why The Oilers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Oilers have had the upper hand for most of this series. They led 4-1 until the end of the second period in Game 1, where they allowed a goal to make it 4-2. Then, Vancouver scored three goals in seven minutes to take a 5-4 lead and steal Game 1. The Oilers held the Canucks to 43 shots over the two games, but Stuart Skinner couldn’t settle into a hostile Rogers Arena.

The Canucks had just 19 shots in Game 2, and if they continue this output, you should expect Skinner to do a lot better job at home. The Canucks made it past Nashville with a lack of offensive production, but that’s a dangerous game to play against the Oilers. How will Arturs Silovs, the Canucks third-string goalie, fare on the road in Edmonton? He’s kept the Canucks in every game so far, but Rogers Place will be a different animal entirely.

Final Canucks-Oilers Prediction & Pick

The Canucks have been beating the odds all season, with bettors and fans waiting for their luck to turn. However, they’ve passed every test to get first in the Pacific Division. You may be thinking, there’s no way we can bet against them if we keep this in mind. Well, we’ll continue doubting them and take the Oilers to run away with this game at home.
Final Canucks-Oilers Prediction & Pick: Oilers -1.5 (+125)
