Call it the Wemby clapback four years in the making.
Spurs star and Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama recently replied to a 187-week-old Instagram comment predicting he would not dominate in the NBA.
The naysayer’s remark, “He not gone do none of that in the NBA,” elicited Wembanyama’s simple two-word retort: “Why not?”

The doubter originally made the remark in October 2020 on the pro hoops stat account NBA in Depth (@nba.in_depth).
The post highlighted the then-16-year-old Wembanyama as an NBA prospect who “dominates grown men in season opener in France.” It included video of the young Wembanyama swishing threes, slamming dunks and swatting blocks, much like he would do four years later in his NBA debut.
