Kevin Durant hasn’t been able to return to the heights he reached with the Golden State Warriors since leaving the team.

And he could be on the move in search of another championship while he’s still capable of playing like a world-class star.

As such, Jake Uitti of Sporting News has proposed a trade that would see the two-time NBA champion head to former defending champions, the Denver Nuggets, in the offseason.

The Nuggets could not play their way back to the NBA Finals this season as they did not receive the production they expected from Michael Porter Jr. and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope during their second-round series with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The trade would land Durant in Denver, while Porter and Caldwell-Pope would go the other way. The Nuggets would also give up 2028 and 2030 first-round picks.

Uitti reckons this could work if KCP exercises his player option for next season, assuming the Suns will extend his contract.

“Assuming Mat Ishbia and James Jones can pull that off, this deal gives the Suns a deeper roster and picks to replenish the cupboard in the future — perhaps Denver’s 2028 and 2030 first-rounders,” he explains. “For Denver, the trade shortens their window but it also makes them scarier over the next few seasons. Durant is flat-out better than Porter, even if he is 10 years older.”

NBA Analyst Kevin Perkins Thinks Kevin Durant Will Return To The Eastern Conference

Former NBA center Kendrick Perkins reckons the Miami Heat stand the best chance of landing Durant in a trade.

“We know the Miami Heat went to two NBA Finals, Jimmy Butler wasn’t able to get them over the hump. You get a guy like Kevin Durant in there,” he said on First Take earlier this month. “And also, the Miami Heat, they got some pieces. They got some pieces over there that’s eye candy.”

Perkins also pointed out that Heat assistant coach Caron Butler could play a role in getting KD to Miami as he is a mentor to the 14-time NBA All-Star.
