Head coach Joe Mazzulla helped the Boston Celtics to one of their best regular seasons in NBA history, despite taking the credit for the team’s failure in May of the previous year.
The Boston Celtics won against the New Orleans Pelicans to redeem themselves following two losses to the Atlanta Hawks. In order to conclude their current six-game road trip with a victory, the Celtics need to overcome the Charlotte Hornets.
The Boston Celtics have already relieved tension by securing the top spot in the Eastern Conference standings, while most other clubs in the league are still trying for a postseason position.
Following their road victory against the New Orleans Pelicans, the Celtics are on track to win 64 games. If they achieve that milestone, they will join a group of only 25 clubs that have won 64 games in a single season. Of those teams, 60% went on to win the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
In addition, Joe Mazzulla will be able to rest Jaylen Brown because they are playing the sick and inexperienced Charlotte Hornets.
Boston Celtics lead the series by an 11.38-point margin of victory
Mazzulla is hard to hold accountable for his experiments. These specific moments are meant for scheduling rest, taking it slow, and honing all of your tools.
This time, there cannot be any justifications, except for serious casualties. It would be coaching negligence not to take advantage of these games and provide your staff with enough film versus specific systems when you have four weeks to sample and plan for potential issues.
With eight games remaining, the Celtics lead the series by an 11.38-point margin of victory, which ranks ninth all-time. Only the 1971 Bucks, 1996 Bulls, 1972 Lakers, and 2017 Warriors are behind them. Boston now has the fourth-largest net rating disparity in NBA history. Whatever team or coach is on the opposing side, Boston should be looking forward to every game in the East.
