Victor Wembanyama was selected with the #1 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft. As with all #1 draft picks, he was chosen due to a combination of his talent, potential, basketball IQ and unique skill set. The difference? The 20-year old French basketball phenom came into the league at 7 foot 3 inches tall with an insane wingspan..
Usually when a big men over 7 feet tall comes into the league, they are slow of foot, not very athletic and their relative coordination is a challenge. That’s why Wembanyama is so “different,” he displays handles like a guard, can shoot from distance, is a great passer; no shade on 7-4 Zach Edey, but the college player of the year and Purdue big man provides a perfect contrast to Victor; who is more of a modern player above seven feet tall.
How Tall is Victor Wembanyama Anyway?
The Spurs are having a rough year in Wemby’s first year, but keep an eye on future NBA lines for San Antonio. As Victor continues to grow and fill out, the San Antonio Spurs will also grow. There’s no doubt the big man is the future of the league. For the sake of the league, they had better hope he doesn’t have his first growth spurt. Rumored to be up to 7-feet 9-inches, there’s been some confusion about Wembanyama’s height.
That’s because in 2024, Wembanyama was officially listed at 7-foot 4-inches tall on NBA.com which translates to 2,23 meters. And Wemby barely out of his teenage years, so he may continue getting taller.
