VIDEO: John Wall Reveals Darkest Moment As He Tried To Take His Own Life On Two Occasions
Former Washington Wizards star John Wall has revealed he tried taking his life on two occasions amid struggles with his mental health.
Wall, a free agent, last played for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2022. He ended up with the Houston Rockets as part of a trade last January but was waived a few days later.
The point guard was a guest on a recent episode of Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller’s “The OG’s Show’ when he revealed having put a gun to his head twice.
“I know how it is, and I try to tell people, ‘Mental health is serious.’ So, I had to go get a therapist after that. If it wasn’t for my two boys, I would have killed myself,” he recalled. “I put a gun to my head twice. And a lot of people that [are] close to me and my friends at the time didn’t know.”

Wall suggested he’s only still here because he couldn’t stomach the idea of disappointing his kids.
“I had a gun to my head twice,” he continued. “I wanted to commit suicide, and I was like, ‘Man, if I take myself away from this earth, I’m failing my kids. Who is going to be there to raise them?..’” he said. “I take it from them; that ain’t fair to me. I know I gotta be there for them.”

The 33-year-old has been vocal about his battle with mental health in the past, noting that the COVID-19 pandemic was particularly hard.
John Wall Wants To Play For The Miami Heat
Wall hasn’t retired and has hopes of making it back to the NBA. He told Haslem and Miller he would love to play for the Miami Heat and has spoken about it a lot.
“1,000 percent. I talk about that all the time. You know what I mean? Just feel like I can help them a lot,” he said.
“I think getting [Terry Rozier] was a great piece for them…somebody that can make plays and pick ‘n roll for them, but even if I didn’t start, coming off the bench, I think I could be another person that can help them and impact them. Like me and UD talked about this plenty of times, and I work out with [Bam Adebayo] a lot, so…”
Might the Heat offer the point guard a route back into the league? Maybe UD will put in a good word.
