The Kansas City Chiefs have addressed the situation regarding Rashee Rice following the wide receiver landing himself in hot water with the law.
A car registered or leased to the rookie was involved in a multi-car crash in northern Dallas over the weekend and police were said to have been searching for him after he fled the scene.
Chiefs president Mark Donovan discussed the matter in an interview on KCMO radio on Monday morning, noting that the team will take whatever steps it needs to once all the necessary information is in front of management.

“In all these situations you have to wait until you have all the facts and frankly, we don’t have all the facts at this point,” Donovan was quoted as saying (H/T NBC News). “The one comforting fact that we do have is that there was a multi-car crash in Texas, in Dallas, and fortunately, it doesn’t appear that anyone was hurt and we should be grateful for that. We’ll get to the bottom of it, we’ll gather the facts and we’ll react accordingly.”
The Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Has Finally Put Out A Statement
Rice, who came close to a 1,000-yard season as a rookie for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023, has retained legal counsel, though it is still unclear as to whether he is facing charges.
The player’s attorney, Royce West, says he is cooperating with police.
“On behalf of Rashee Rice, his thoughts are with everyone impacted by the automobile accident on Saturday,” the statement, which was shared by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. reads.
“Rashee is cooperating with local authorities and will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly.”
Rashee Rice Accused Of Illegal Racing
It’s alleged that the Kansas City Chiefs rookie and another individual were racing at the time of the crash. According to a Dallas police spokesperson, the drivers of a Chevrolet Corvette and a Lamborghini were speeding before they both lost control of their vehicles.
The Lamborghini is said to have struck a median, setting off a chain reaction of collisions. The occupants of both vehicles fled the scene.
Two persons were hospitalized, but it doesn’t appear that anyone was seriously injured.
