Luka Doncic’s Mother, Mirjam Poterbin, Witnesses Her Son’s 47-Point Masterclass Against Rockets (ImageSource: GettyImages)
On Sunday night, the Dallas Mavericks had a big challenge facing the Houston Rockets, who had won 11 games in a row. Luka Doncic knew what to do and played exceptionally well when his team needed it the most.
Doncic’s outstanding performance helped the Mavericks win 125-107 at the Toyota Center, stopping Houston’s impressive winning streak. His contribution was crucial in cooling down Houston’s hot streak.
Luka Doncic’s Mother Witness Mavs-Rockets Game
Luka Doncic had a special supporter at the recent game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets, who was his mom, Mirjam Poterbin. She shared an Instagram picture from the Toyota Center, showing her excitement before the game started.
Poterbin must have been thrilled watching her son’s outstanding performance that night. Doncic scored an impressive 47 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out 7 assists, and made 2 steals, leading the Mavericks to a convincing 125-107 victory over the Rockets. This win marked the team’s seventh consecutive triumph, showing their strong form.
Doncic and Poterbin’s relationship has come long since their legal dispute over his brand rights a few years back. Despite some challenges in the past, they resolved their differences in December 2022, which is evident from Poterbin’s regular presence at his games lately.
Having been through tough times, including Doncic’s parents’ divorce when he was young, Poterbin has always supported him. Initially focused on her modeling and beauty salon business, she shifted her attention to her son’s blossoming basketball career, which has paid off tremendously.
Dallas Mavericks Star Luka Shines Bright Vs. Rockets
Luka Doncic had an outstanding game on Sunday, starting with 22 points, eight rebounds, and four assists just in the first quarter. Meanwhile, the Rockets struggled with only 24 points in the same period, and Luka almost matched their score by himself with his impressive performance.
Throughout the game, Luka continued to shine brightly. He ended with an impressive 47 points, making 18 out of 30 shots, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out seven assists, and made two steals in 35 minutes of play. Luka was outstanding from beyond the three-point line, hitting 9 out of 16 attempts.
Luka’s fantastic performance got NBA fans on Twitter talking about his chances for the MVP award this year. Many believe that he’s on track to claim the title.
In the latest MVP rankings from NBA.com, Doncic has moved to the No. 2 spot, surpassing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The only player ahead of Luka now is his good friend and two-time NBA MVP, Nikola Jokic.
