Saturday marked a great day for Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James as the future Hall of Famer established a career record that has immortalized him in basketball. He reached a new career point milestone. But the Lakers’ defeat somewhat diminished the thrill of this achievement.

However, another NBA icon established a record on March 2 that immortalized him as one of the greats.

March 2 is known for not only LeBron James’ 40K points landmark

On March 2, 2024, Lakers ace LeBron James set a historic record that immortalized him in the world of basketball. The Lakers ace hit the 40,000 career points mark in his match against the Denver Nuggets. A few years ago, no one would have thought that such a feat would have been possible. However, LeBron James gave everyone a glimpse into the future last year when he broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record. Soon after that, he hit the 39,000 career point mark and the dream of 40,000 career points was soon no longer a dream.

Being the first player to do something, it’s pretty cool in this league ‘cause you just know the history, you know the grace that has come through the league,” James said after the game.

However, amid all the hype about LeBron James reaching a historic point in his career, people have forgotten about another record. A record as historic as Bron’s was established by NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain on March 2, 1962. He had a 100-point game, a feat that had never been repeated since. It is a record that will probably never be broken in the future and has cemented Wilt as one of the greatest of all time.
