The Kansas City Chiefs will meet with a veteran wide receiver this Thursday amid Rashee Rice’s legal troubles.

The team is considering its options, with Rice the subject of two investigations, though he could soon be cleared from the newest one.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team will host Zay Jones for a visit following his meetings with the Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, and Dallas Cowboys.

The Jacksonville Jaguars released Jones late last month following a season in which he made 34 of his 64 targets stick for 321 yards in nine games. The wideout set career highs in catches and receiving yards after joining the Jaguars in 2022, but his second term with the team hardly went according to plan.

Jacksonville cut Jones after signing Gabe Davis and drafting Brian Thomas Jr. No. 23 overall.

The Kansas City Chiefs, on the other hand, took Xavier Worthy at No. 28 overall after trading up. Still, they could need more help for Patrick Mahomes, given the possibility of Rice’s absence to start the season.

Rice was the premier WR for the Super Bowl champions in his rookie season, hauling 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023. However, he will likely be suspended after his hit-and-run incident in March.

The 24-year-old is also under investigation for assaulting a photographer at a nightclub on Monday. However, he could be cleared on that front as witnesses claim the altercation didn’t go past verbal.

The Chiefs have also added Marquise Brown since winning the Super Bowl in February. It will be interesting to see how they go about business moving forward.
