Shams Charania Senior, lead NBA Insider for The Athletic and Stadium, reports that former Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. is signing a one-month, $10,000 contract with PAOK for the rest of the season.
Porter was transferred by the Rockets to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who later released him in October following his apprehension and accusation of assaulting and strangling his fiancée. In an agreement with prosecutors, he entered a guilty plea to misdemeanor assault and a harassment infraction in January.
The plea deal states that Porter will not go to jail if he follows the guidelines of an order of protection and finishes the treatment program.
Porter Jr. reportedly came to an appeal deal in January on charges of third-degree reckless assault and second-degree harassment. He completed a programme that will enable him to rescind his assault plea after it is over.
Kevin Porter Jr. was taken into custody in November 2020
Porter Jr. was accused of criminal assault, even though his girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, claims that he never beat her.
Porter Jr. averaged 19.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in 59 games with the Houston Rockets during the previous games.
Porter was taken into custody in November 2020 when Ohio police discovered a loaded firearm in his car following a report of a collision. Due to this, he was sidelined for the entirety of the 2020–21 season. Following a confrontation with team management, the Cavaliers traded him in January 2021.
Porter was fined by the NBA in April 2021 for breaking the health and safety regulations of the league after being traded to Houston. In January 2022, Porter was also asked to leave a game after allegedly getting into a “verbal altercation” with assistant coach John Lucas.
