The New England Patriots have a ton of holes on the team as they need to land a top quarterback to lead the team.

With over a month to go until the NFL Draft, the moving and shaking has already begun and the Patriots have been named as a team that might make a move regarding their number 3 overall draft pick.

Would New England even make a trade?

The New England Patriots own their highest draft pick since 1993, and at the moment, they’re intent on staying with it.

Sports Illustrated‘s Albert Breer believes the Patriots do not want to trade the pick and are intent on selecting a quarterback. Based on what has been alleged already, the team will have a choice between North Carolina’s Drake Maye, LSU’s Jayden Daniels, or Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy.

“That Vikings trade gives us all a window into where J.J. McCarthy now stands in the eyes of NFL teams. And that’s not to say that they all love him. It is to say that, assuming the Bears, Commanders, and Patriots stay put and draft quarterbacks—zero of the three have shown an appetite for trading one of those picks—McCarthy is not just worthy of being, at worst, the fourth QB off the board, but maybe someone worth moving up for.”

The biggest trade so far in the upcoming draft is the Minnesota Vikings trading with the Houston Texans to acquire the No. 23 and 232 picks in exchange for the No. 42 and 188. The team lost Kirk Cousins in free agency, who signed a four-year, $180 deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

We could very well see three quarterbacks go in the first three picks of the NFL Draft.

New England Patriots Need Quarterback To Usher In The Jared Mayo Era

Several teams have explored trading up into the top three of the 2024 NFL Draft, which features three elite quarterback prospects in USC’s Caleb Williams, LSU’s Jayden Daniels, and UNC’s Drake Maye.

The Patriots desperately need to bring in a quarterback to usher in the Jared Mayo era after the team parted ways with Bill Belichick and traded former starting quarterback Mac Jones this offseason. That number 3 pick is the way to kill two birds with one stone.
