The Maple Leafs parted ways with Sheldon Keefe early this off-season in favour of Craig Berube, and now the Devils coach has taken some shots at the Toronto market.

This off-season has been a fun one for the NHL already, with several coaches moving on, with new Devils coach Sheldon Keefe’s departure from the Toronto Maple Leafs the biggest headline of all. While Keefe was cordial during his departure, he’s now seemingly taken a shot at the Toronto market while being introduced to New Jersey Devils fans.

Sheldon Keefe says that it was a tremendous honour to coach the Toronto Maple Leafs, but that he has had numerous well-established NHL coaches congratulate him on leaving the market 🗣️
Thoughts?

It may not have been Keefe’s words, as he was just reportedly relaying what other veteran coaches had said to him in the wake of his departure, and given the comments, it’s safe to say that the market in Toronto still has a major problem.

The former Maple Leafs boss has been under immense pressure from the moment he arrived in Toronto, and while the expectations are high in New Jersey, it’s clear that the market is a much easier one to deal with already.

Still, it wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone if Maple Leafs fans took this comment to heart, so when the Devils come to town next season, expect an icy ovation from the Maple Leafs faithful.
