PHOTOS: NBA Fans Found Several Errors On Kobe Bryant’s Newly Unveiled Statue Outside The Lakers’ Crypto.com Arena

The Lakers unveiled their new No. 8 piece to honor the late superstar in February. Bryant, who passed away in a tragic helicopter crash along with his daughter and nine other individuals in 2020, spent his entire career with the team, winning five championships in the process.

The team erected a statue bearing his likeness outside their home arena last month. But, according to a report, it’s got several spelling errors.

“Namely, names of two players are misspelled: Jose Calderon is spelled as Jose Calderson, while Von Wafer’s name is engraved as Vom Waver. Also, the term DNP – Coach’s Decision is misspelled in one line as DNP – Coach’s Decicion. The statue, made by artist Julie Rotblatt-Amrany, has been criticized for its proportions as well, as fans have voiced their opinion that one of Kobe’s arms is seemingly longer than the other.”

Of course, those are easily correctable, but that they made it there in the first place is not a great look for the Lakers.

Meanwhile, the team is coming off a monumental win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, with LeBron James returning from an ankle injury to score 29 points and help his team to a 120-109 result, adding nine assists and eight rebounds.

Anthony Davis made history, becoming the first player in NBA history to record at least 25 points, 25 rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
