After the controversies in the first two games of the series between the Knicks and the Pacers, fireworks were expected at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indiana for game 3. The crowd in attendance, including Caitlin Clark, were left in a frenzy by Tyrese Haliburton with a 35-point performance on Friday and, in the process, he joined an elite list of NBA greats.

18 of Haliburton’s points tally came from 3s as he went 6 of 16 from beyond the arc. This feat made him the fifth player in NBA playoff history to record back-to-back 30+ points and 6+ 3 PTS. In game 2, Haliburton scored 34 points and converted 7 out of his 11 3-point attempts.

Haliburton joined the esteemed list of Stephen Curry who achieved this feat on seven different occasions, Donovan Mitchell, who did it twice, James Harden and Damian Lillard, who did it once each.

What is more impressive is that he did all of it in game 3 while being injured.

Tyrese Haliburton Provides Injury Update After Game 3

After the game, Tyrese Haliburton appeared in front of the press. Among all things, he discussed his physical condition, which worsened after picking up knocks throughout the game.

“I’m hurtin’…Everybody’s hurtin’ right now…I’ll heal up & be ready to go on Sunday,” said Haliburton. HC Rick Carlisle already spoke about the 24-year-old’s back issues after game 2 and in the fourth quarter of game 3, he picked up some more injuries to add to that list.

Around 9:30 on the clock, Haliburton hurt his tailbone after Miles McBride came under him, resulting in a hard landing. After two minutes of that, he twisted his ankle, which left him in visible discomfort for the rest of the game.

Rick Carlisle is hoping to get Haliburton for the crucial fourth game on Sunday despite the niggles, as the Pacers are keeping their fingers crossed.
