Justin Jefferson has made a surprising admission as he’s hinted that he might want to reunite with former Lousiana State University teammates Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase.
Of course, such a dream scenario is likely never going to happen in the pros given that all three of the aforementioned players are huge stars right now. But they did get to play together at LSU, and Jefferson has confessed that he feels some jealousy given that Burrow and Chase got to continue being teammates.
The trio rose to fame while playing for the Tigers and won a national championship together in 2019. Jefferson and Burrow were drafted the following year, with the former getting selected by the Minnesota Vikings, and Chase joined the QB in Cincinnati in 2021.
While Jefferson has gone on to become a top receiver in the NFL, he admitted he is jealous of the connection Burrow and Chase maintained, although he is happy for them.
The star wideout was speaking to comedian Kevin Hart on the latter’s ‘Cold As Balls’ show when he opened up on their relationship at LSU.
“I love them together, I love the chemistry that they have, but it’s definitely some jealousy on that side,” he said.
Justin Jefferson Blossomed Into An Even Bigger Star
Justin Jefferson was not as decorated as Ja’Marr Chase in college. The Bengals WR won the Fred Biletnikoff Award in 2019 and was also an All-American. He went to Cincinnati as the No. 5 overall pick.
Jefferson was taken at No. 22 overall and has since gone on to smash several records. They both have three Pro Bowl nods to their name while Jefferson has made three All-Pro teams (one first-team and two second-teams.) Chase was a second-team All-Pro in 2021.
Stating that he’s jealous does seem as if Jefferson would not mind reuniting with his former college teammates at some point, but he should know as well as anyone else that it’s way easier said than done. After all, the Bengals did try to trade for him earlier in the offseason, according to reports.
