Jennifer Lopez has reportedly turned to husband Ben Affleck’s ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, for help saving their two-year marriage. The singer reached out because Garner understands the situation, and the women want to prevent Affleck from relapsing into alcoholism, which he’s done in the past.

Lopez has reached out to Garner for help and support as her marriage to Affleck hits the rocks. Insiders recently revealed to the DailyMail that both women are worried that Affleck might relapse from his alcohol sobriety amid their marital troubles.

On Sunday, Garner was photographed arriving at Affleck’s current home in Brentwood, just a few hours after the duo attended their son Samuel’s basketball game.

The “Gone Girl” actor and Lopez have been living in different homes while he films “The Accountant 2,” which sources say is actually a sign of their troubles.

The source said, “JLo has been confiding in Jen because she knows that she is one of the only people in the world who would understand what she is going through.”

They added, “She has been through it with the same man herself and although the circumstances were quite different it is still the same man and they both dealt with some of the same issues.”

According to the insider, Garner is helping Affleck and Lopez save their two-year marriage because she sees the singer as a stabilizing force in his life. The “Elektra” actress also reportedly cares about their happiness as a couple and family.

The insider said, “She did go to his house to talk to him about this and to try and keep the two of them together. JLo was told several times by Jen how valued she is in all their lives. She is one of the only women who can get through to Ben and keep him from jumping off the deep end with his addiction.”

Affleck is allegedly known among friends and his close circle for a pattern of relapse when it comes to marital issues. The source explained that the actor is “frustrated right now” because there’s no escape from his problems.

They added, “The biggest fear right now is that he will start drinking again, and part of the reason Jen has been keeping tabs on him is to make sure this doesn’t happen.”

Affleck has been very public about the “shame” and “regret” he felt about how things ended between him and Garner in 2018, after about 13 years of marriage.

During an interview with The New York Times in 2020, the “Good Will Hunting” star opened up about their marriage and his alcoholism.

He said, “I drank relatively normally for a long time. What happened was that I started drinking more and more when my marriage was falling apart. This was 2015, 2016. My drinking, of course, created more marital problems.”

Eventually, Affleck was forced to go to rehab in August 2018 after a home intervention from Garner and a sober coach.

In recent days, Garner has been spotted with the couple for events related to their children. Affleck has also been seen without his wedding ring on multiple occasions, which has further fueled the rumors that he and Lopez are headed toward a divorce.
