Jennifer Aniston might not be on as good of terms with ex-husband Justin Theroux as fans have been led to believe. There is a new report that The Leftovers star might have cashed in on his ex-wife’s connections to keep his career going — and she’s not exactly thrilled by that idea.

Theroux, who has a starring role in the upcoming movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, may have reached out to Aniston’s first ex-husband Brad Pitt to secure the job. It’s Pitt’s production company, Plan B Entertainment, which is producing the sequel to the 1988 hit film. “Justin is trying to revive his feature film acting career after a few years out of the game and he needed this part badly – it’s a juicy role and he’s a big part of the movie,” a source revealed to Life & Style. “Plus, the movie has real buzz!

Aniston’s inner circle of A-list actor friends understand Theroux’s “desperation to be in something like this,” yet the source scoffed, “But come on, what’s really going on here?” They claim that the Friends star’s inner circle believes Theroux isn’t thinking about Aniston in this situation. The 52-year-old actor appears to be “the eternal opportunist who doesn’t take optics into account when he picks a role where he’s surrounded by people who used to be in Jen’s life but aren’t anymore.” Ouch, that’s some serious shade!

The pal described their post-divorce relationship as a “tenuous friendship” that might be hanging by a thread now. “It’s insensitive and it looks bad! Jen is embarrassed for him, and there’s clearly a better way to handle it,” the source added. “Jen is pretty done with Justin in this regard, and she’s never liked people who will do anything to make it without thinking about the bigger picture.” The couple was married from 2015 until 2017 when they announced their split. To his defense, Theroux has been cautious about talking about Aniston in the press, though.

In 2021, he was asked by Esquire if they split over their contradictory desires to live on different coasts, to which, Theroux gave a vague answer and then moved on to another topic. “That’s a narrative that is not true, for the most part,” he shared. “Look, people create narratives that make themselves feel better or simplify things for them. That whole ‘This person likes rock ’n’ roll, that person likes jazz. Of course!’ That’s just not the case. It’s an oversimplification.” Their short-lived marriage remains a mystery to this day, but neither of them is spilling the beans.
