Everyone’s hair changes as they get older. Some guys embrace the gray and white silver fox look, while others cope with copious amounts of hair dye.

Then there’s Arnold Schwarzenegger, who’s apparently taking both approaches at the same time.

While bopping around Los Angeles on Tuesday with daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger, the bodybuilding icon sported black sweats and, well, a somewhat unusual dye job. The majority of his hair was dyed its usual brown-save for a strip of white all the way around the base.

What went wrong here? Did Arnie only have half a box of drugstore hair dye in his bathroom to apply and just thought he would have time fix it later?

Apparently not, because the Terminator actor (and soon-to-be father-in-law of Chris Pratt) showed off a similar look at the Arnold Sports Festival on March 2.

Here’s something to note about the look, for whatever it’s worth: Schwarzenegger’s beard is also white; combined with the strip of white hair around the base, Arnold’s head is almost equal parts brown and white.

It’s almost like he was inspired by a black and white cookie-boy, what a treat for us.

To figure out where it all went wrong, we decided to dive into the past few months of Schwarzenegger’s confusing hair color and how it progressed into this skunk-inspired ‘do.

Back in early November of 2018, The former California Governor was spotted out in London with full salt-in-pepper hair and scruff looking ruggedly handsome.

While some men struggle to accept gray hairs, Schwarzenegger makes the color look sophisticated and age-appropriate-a look worth sticking to.

Two weeks later, Schwarzenegger was spotted in Los Angeles with the light-brown hair, while still maintaining a white beard and sideburns.

The color looks just plain wrong in an artificial brown hue and basically confirms that the man did this to himself, as a professional colorist would never make this mistake.

More reason to not dye your hair at home, but if you do and the results are less than stellar, don’t be afraid to call your local hair salon to fix the problem. However, it looks like he remembered to dye the bottom area near his hairline that time.

Going through his hair color transformation of the past few months is key to solving this mystery, because it appears that while Schwarzenegger touched up his color recently (the top hair is brown down to the root,) a towel around the neck might have been the culprit that created the white strip.

While we still believe the man can do no wrong, we suggest Schwarzenegger terminate this dye job with some clippers and just focus on keeping his hair trimmed tight.
