Football fans are teeing off on NBC Sports’ Chris Simms over his rankings of the top five wide receiver prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft class.

Ohio State product Marvin Harrison Jr. is the overwhelming choice to be the first non-QB selected in the draft. Chris Simms, the former NFL quarterback and son of Super Bowl-winning signal-caller Phil Simms, posted his rankings for the top five WR prospects on X/Twitter.

And to the surprise of just about everybody, the NFL analyst didn’t feature Harrison Jr. in his top-two rankings. He instead at LSU’s Malik Nabers No. 1 in the “Explosive WR1” category, with teammate Brian Thomas Jr. at No. 2.

As you can see, Harrison Jr. was ranked No. 3 and placed in the “No Bust, NFL Ready” tier, with Washington’s Rome Odunze and Michigan’s Roman Wilson coming in at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively: (Posted on Twitter)

And you can probably guess how football fans reacted to Chris Simms’ controversial wide receiver rankings here…

Simms’ ranking of Harrison Jr. isn’t the only surprise here. Nabers and Odunze are the other consensus top-three wideouts in this draft, and very few other scouts and analysts have Roman Wilson in the top five.

How Chris Simms’ WR Rankings Compare To Other Experts
ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. has far different WR rankings than Simms on his big board. The veteran analyst has Harrison Jr. as his No. 1 receiver, followed by Odunze, Nabers, Thomas Jr. and Texas Longhorns star Xavier Worthy.

Over at NFL.com, Daniel Jeremiah also has Harrison Jr. ranked first, with Odunze second, Nabers third and Thomas Jr. fourth. Instead of Worthy, Jeremiah has Texas teammate Adonai Mitchell as his No. 5 wideout.

And at Pro Football Focus, they too have Harrison Jr. at No. 1 with Nabers as the No. 2 receiver. Odunze is listed as third on their big board, followed by Thomas Jr. and Mitchell as well.
