Where will Brandon Aiyuk end up this offseason?

An Aiyuk trade is plausible because he’s signed for just one more year in San Francisco. ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported earlier this month that the star wide receiver was “a trade candidate if” the defending NFC Champions fail to get a contract extension done with the 2020 first-round pick:

It appears they are quite serious about trading him.

Mia O’Brien, a reporter for Jacksonville radio station 1010XL, reported on the asking price for the star wide receiver, who is entering his fifth-year option.

According to O’Brien, the 49ers sought the No. 17 overall pick from the Jacksonville Jaguars, plus wide receiver Zay Jones, in exchange for Aiyuk. Unfortunately, that asking price was way too high for the Jaguars to part ways with these assets and commit significant money to Aiyuk in the form of a contract extension.

San Francisco selected Aiyuk in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He has 269 catches for 3,931 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns in 62 career games.

Last year, the 25-year-old Aiyuk led the team in targets (105), receptions (75), and receiving yards (1,342), according to 49ers.com.

Zay Jones is currently entering the final year of the three-year, $24 million deal he signed in 2022. Jones just completed his second season in Jacksonville. He battled through a rash of injuries and finished with 321 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Brandon Aiyuk’s Girlfriend And Brother Posted Cryptic Messages Amid His Contract Controversy
Shortly after the Super Bowl, it became increasingly clear that Brandon Aiyuk and the people who love him want him to get paid or get out of town.

Aiyuk posted a cryptic Instagram Story with the message “Don’t forget what got you there.”

Aiyuk’s girlfriend and brother then added to the cryptic post by alluding to how he could get himself out of San Francisco this offseason.

Emotions were clearly raw at the time, but it seems the 49ers have at least looked into the possibility of trading him away and not paying him top dollar.
