Fans were given an early listen to Billie Eilish’s new song, “Lunch,” which is a sensual tune with explicit lyrics and queer overtones.

On May 17, Eilish will release her third studio album, Hit Me Hard And Soft. On Saturday, April 13, Eilish teased a few new songs during her Do Labs party at Coachella. She performed songs like “Chihiro,” “L’Amour De Ma Vie,” and “Lunch” for a select group of fans.

With lyrics like “I could eat that girl for lunch / Yeah, she dances on my tongue / Tastes like she might be the one / And I can never get enough / I could buy you so much stuff / It is a craving, not a crush,” “Lunch” has since sent some fans on social media into a tailspin due to its overt LGBTQ+ themes.

In November 2023, Eilish revealed her sexual orientation in a cover article for Variety. She later accused the magazine of “outing” her on the red carpet in December.

At the time, Eilish posted on Instagram, “Thanks variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 am instead of talking about anything else that matters.” “I like boys and girls. Please leave me alone about it. Who cares? Just stream ‘what was I made for?’ 🥸.”

When questioned about remarks she had made about her sexuality in a prior interview, Eilish clarified that she did not intend for her coming out to be a showy gesture. But I could not help but think, ‘Was not it obvious?’ “I had no idea that people were ignorant,” she remarked. “I simply do not think it is real.” All I can think is, “Why can not we just exist?” I have been doing this for a while, but I never mentioned it. Eilish opened up about her anxieties regarding whether or not other women find her attractive in the original interview, which was published on November 13, 2023.

At the time, she said, “I never really felt like I could relate to girls very well.” “I adore them a lot.” As people, I adore them. As people, they draw me in. I really am attracted to them.

“I have deep connections with women in my life, as well as with friends and family,” she continued. They have a physical attraction on me. But their presence, their beauty, and them terrify me so much as well. In addition, she disclosed her gender identification, stating that she had never before “felt like a woman” or “desirable.”

I have never felt like a woman. I have to persuade myself that I am a fairly attractive girl. Though I identify as “she/her” and such, I have never felt particularly feminine.

“Lunch” is probably just one of many tracks that reveal an alternate side to Eilish to her admirers. On Friday, April 12, she announced on Apple Music that she was filming a music video for “Lunch,” the second song on her next album, which is being produced by her brother Finneas O’Connell.

“When Finneas and I first started playing it for people, we kind of built the album that if someone had said, ‘I want you to make an album, but no one is going to hear it,’ we kind of made that album. We did not really give it much thought as to how other people might react to the record we recorded,” the woman stated. “So I realized that I kind of feel like, ‘You were not supposed to hear this,’ when I play it for people.”
