At 43 years old, the mother of five, Katie Price, revealed a distressing incident that occurred while she was researching her son Harvey’s visual impairment shortly after his birth.

Katie, who became a single mother for the first time in the late ’90s after her relationship with ex-partner, professional footballer Dwight Yorke, ended, has mostly kept this aspect of her life away from the media spotlight.

In her book, “Katie Price: Harvey and Me,” she delved into this challenging period.

After welcoming Harvey, Katie sought help from top doctors worldwide to diagnose his conditions.

But not all appointments went smoothly. Katie recalls a horrific encounter with one of the USA’s most respected optometrists, who confirmed that Harvey was blind and would likely remain so for life.

Recalling the moment a doctor revealed the cause of her son’s visual impairment due to her interracial relationship, Katie shared: “I’ll never forget what she said next. ‘You shouldn’t mix black and white,’ she told us.”

Confused, Katie asked for clarification, stating: “‘What do you mean? ‘ I said. I was completely stunned. And she just simply said, ‘This is what happens when you’re a white woman with a black man’,” reports the Daily Star.

The outspoken mom was left speechless by the physician’s “cruel comment”. After learning her son was truly blind, Katie’s trademark fiery persona dimmed as worries for her son’s future loomed.

Harvey was later diagnosed with Septo-optic Dysplasia a condition affecting his sight alongside autism and Prader-Willi syndrome, causing him learning challenges and behavioural difficulties.

Not one to back down, she now champions her son’s rights fiercely, ensuring he has access to higher education, independent living and opportunities like any other child.

Katie’s documentary, Katie Price: Harvey and Me, showcased their journey and even secured a National Television Awards nomination.

“And it gets to a point where it becomes noise. I had my breakdown, the worst thing ever, and now I’ve come on top, I’ve learnt not to be afraid.”

She continued: “And I think in this book, people will get to see really what it’s like to be me. There will be uplifting moments, there’ll be dark moments, and moments where I can put the truth right in a lot of things.”

In a moment of excitement, she exclaimed, “She’s got her next book out!” as cheers erupted from the crew around her. Throughout the video, Katie exuded confidence, striking poses and modeling for photographers in her family home.

Despite facing financial challenges and being declared bankrupt for the second time last month due to an unpaid tax bill exceeding £750,000, the former glamour model eagerly shared her excitement on social media. She announced, “MASSIVE NEWS ALERT! I’m so happy to share that this July I’m releasing my brand new autobiography, THIS IS ME.”
