Opening up about her new music, Perrie expressed, “I relate to so many songs and so many artists, and they have helped me through certain periods of my life or have taken me back to a particular feeling. Music does that; it’s meant to do that. So I find sharing it all quite empowering, and I just hope when I release my album, people can relate in the same way.”

She continued, revealing the depth of her emotional connection to her songs, saying, “I think everything that I felt in the moment on the days of the sessions is what I got across. One day, I’d be like, ‘I really feel like I need to write about Axel.’ Other days I’d say, ‘I want to write about Alex and how amazing he is to me.’ My anxiety… I wrote songs about everything. It’s so therapeutic to pour your heart out about a certain situation in your life—and all of a sudden it becomes a song.”

Perrie shares her two-year-old son, Axel, with her fiancé, professional footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. With her new solo music, she joins her former bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson in pursuing individual projects, leaving Jade Thirwall as the remaining member yet to announce any solo music endeavors. Perrie confirmed the title of the track and unveiled its cover art in a social media post shared with her followers on March 12.

Little Mix, formed on The X Factor in 2010, enjoyed immense success throughout their 11-year recording career before announcing their split in December 2021.

Since confirming their decision to disband, the bandmates have experienced varying degrees of success. Former member Jesy, who departed the band in 2020 to prioritize her mental health, initially signed a solo deal with Polydor Records. However, the two parted ways with the label in 2022 following a lukewarm response to her debut single, Boyz.

Subsequently, the singer released her second solo single, Bad Thing, independently. Unfortunately, the track failed to break into the UK top 100 singles chart.

Jesy has since scrapped plans to release third single Cried Out in favour of an ‘up-tempo banger’ that she claims is ‘me in a nutshell’, according to sources.

Speaking to The Mirror, an insider said: ‘Jesy has been listening to her critics. She is desperate to give fans something epic and is doing all she can to find her authentic sound, but the sudden change-up has unsettled her camp.

‘Last year, most of her debut album was believed to be done – even the artwork was in place – but Jesy has since done a huge u-turn and everything is being reworked, even the aesthetic as it doesn’t match her new up-tempo direction.’

In 2022, Leigh-Anne signed her own solo deal with Warner Records, releasing debut single Don’t Say Love in June 2023.
