The Minnesota Vikings got a quarterback in this year’s draft after losing Kirk Cousins to free agency earlier in the offseason.

The team picked former Michigan Wolverines star JJ McCarthy at No. 10 following his part in winning a national championship in January and will hope they’ve landed their franchise man.

The QB, who has since been put through his paces at minicamp, has gone viral in a social media post from MLFootball that suggests he looks exactly like head coach Kevin O’Connell.

“CRAZY… #Vikings Coach Kevin O’Connell drafted his own son,” the tweet reads:

JJ McCarthy Left Quite The Impression On Kevin O’Connell At The Combine

The Vikings left their Combine meeting with JJ McCarthy feeling pretty good about him.

On Monday, the team released a video showing the quarterback meeting with them ahead of the draft and telling the head coach he would run through a brick wall for him.

McCarthy has earned a lot of character points since helping Michigan win a championship earlier this year. His focus on football in high school and college was likely a huge sell, while former head coach Jim Harbaugh gave him a ringing endorsement and predicted that he would go a lot higher in the draft than he did.

It’s going to be interesting to see how he finds life in the NFL and how long it takes him to start.

Our guess is he won’t have much trouble getting by as the coach’s son.
