Katy Perry has teamed up with Grammy-nominated DJ-producer Alesso, as the music video for their first-ever collaboration, When I’m Gone, dropped on Monday.
The video was directed by Hannah Lux Davis – who previously helmed videos for Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Miley Cyrus, Jessie J, Halsey, Christina Aguilera, and Charli XCX.
The clip starts with the 37-year-old pop diva making a call inside an old-fashion phone booth and saying: ‘You know, I just think it’s time to give them everything they want.’
Katy is accompanied inside a Los Angeles factory by the new Spot, a four-legged robot made by Boston Dynamics.
Perry (born Katheryn Hudson) is then seen performing a choreographed dance number in an inch puddle of water with thigh-high white boots on.
The American Idol judge is also seen wearing a purple jumpsuit with matching opera gloves while performing with even more back-up dancers.
The third set-up for When I’m Gone – originally released on December 29 – was inside a sterile server room filled with computers and red lasers.

Katy’s bust-flattering costumes were selected by stylist Tatiana Waterford.
Perry relied on a glam squad consisting of make-up artist Michael Anthony, hairstylist Jesus Guerrero, and nail artist Kim Truong.
Meanwhile, the Swedish 30-year-old (born Alessandro Lindblad) got glam courtesy of stylist Mila Saric, hairstylist Nikki Pittam, and groomer Marlaine Reiner.
When I’m Gone made history on ESPN as the first global music video to premiere during a live broadcast of the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship at 8pm EST.

‘When it comes to my music videos we all know I like to push the boundaries and myself, and create unique opportunities for my fans to see them,’ the De Soi founder said in a statement.
‘ESPN and especially College GameDay hold a special place in my heart, so partnering with Alesso to become the first artists to ever debut a global music video within a live event on ESPN made for a perfect and natural pairing.’
Alesso revealed they waited ‘the whole year’ to finally share it with their fans: ‘I loved working with her and think this song and video came out super special.’

Katy – who boasts 374M social media followers – reminded her legion of ‘KatyCats’ to tag her in all their videos after they learn the choreo: ‘I know [you] will!’
This Thursday, Perry will celebrate the 45th birthday of her fiancé Orlando Bloom, with whom she has 16-month-old daughter Daisy Dove.
The Santa Barbara-born belter is also stepmother to the hunky Englishman’s 11-year-old son Flynn from his three-year marriage to Australian model Miranda Kerr, which ended in 2013.

Katy and Orlando – who split for 10 months in 2017-2018 – put their wedding plans on hold amid the surging coronavirus pandemic after getting engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019.
Perry was previously married to British comedian Russell Brand for 14 months between 2010 and 2011.
The Emmy nominee was reportedly paid an eye-popping $168M for her 23-show residency PLAY at Resorts World Las Vegas’ The Theatre, which continues this Wednesday.
