LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lady Gaga proved her fashion prowess at the diva Grammy awards, securing a remarkable third place after Beyonce and Taylor Swift. While she missed out on the top spots, Gaga unquestionably deserved recognition for her fearless and bold fashion statements.
Trading in her signature “Poker Face” for a spiky, silver headdress and matching, shimmering gown, Lady Gaga stole the spotlight at Sunday’s 52nd annual Grammy Awards.
She not only turned heads with her extravagant attire but also took home two Grammys for her outstanding achievements.
However, it’s worth mentioning that Beyonce triumphed with six wins, while Taylor Swift grabbed four, including the coveted album of the year award.
GAGA’S EYE-CATCHING ATTIRE: Even before the Grammy show commenced on Sunday, anticipation was running high on the red carpet as everyone eagerly awaited Lady Gaga’s next over-the-top ensemble.
“I think I’m going to choose lettuce,” jokingly stated Keri Hilson, a nominee for the best new artist, clad in a form-fitting gown by Dolce and Gabbana.
Anticipating Lady Gaga’s outrageous fashion choices, LMFAO’s Redfoo and Sky Blu speculated, “We bet she will show up in a fish tank, complete with live fish and a snorkel.”
Alice Cooper, on the other hand, made a quirky guess, “I believe she will grace us with a Lionel train set on her head tonight, complete with billowing smoke and all. It wouldn’t surprise me, and I would be disappointed if she decides otherwise.”
Ringo Starr made a prediction about the all-blue appearance of “Avatar”. He casually mentioned that he wanted to be surprised though. It was almost a guarantee that his wish came true.
Lady Gaga’s outfit at the event was so eye-catching, with its shiny, silver, three-dimensional design, that she needed someone to escort her in and out of her seat in the audience.
However, at one point, she briefly changed out of her gown and wore a green, fairy-winged bodysuit with matching sparkly booties when she performed the opening number and duetted with Elton John.
GRAMMY MULTITASKER: He can crack jokes, effortlessly navigate the Grammy Awards ceremony, and even handle the newest technology – an iPad.
However, Stephen Colbert’s level of coolness didn’t truly soar until he won a Grammy on Sunday for his outstanding comedy album.
During his opening monologue, Colbert, who served as the host for this year’s Grammy show, repeatedly asked his daughter, Madeline, if he was cool.
However, she continuously shook her head in disagreement. But once he emerged victorious, Madeline nodded affirmatively, her eyes glistening with tears of joy.
Colbert won an award for his album “A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All.” During his acceptance speech, he humorously thanked Jesus Christ for having such a great birthday as it is a Christmas album.
In addition to his musical achievements, Colbert also showcased the latest Apple toy, an iPad, which he borrowed for the show. He jokingly claimed that having an iPad made him cooler than even Jay-Z.
Wyclef Jean, known for his support of Haiti, wore a Haitian flag on his back when he first appeared at the Grammy Awards in 1996 with the Fugees.
During this Grammy ceremony, he continued to advocate for his native country, asking for continued help in the recovery efforts following the devastating earthquake in January. Jean and numerous others wore tiny red crosses on their clothes to show support for Haiti.
He expressed gratitude to the American people for their support and introduced a duet by Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bocelli to urge fans to purchase the performance on iTunes to further aid Haitian relief.
Next, Pink took the stage with her acrobatic backup dancers, captivating the audience with a daring aerial performance.
She gracefully twirled around while singing “Glitter in the Air,” impressing everyone with her ability to sing and perform such a physically demanding routine simultaneously.
Pink jokingly remarked that no one else had an excuse to lip-sync after her performance. Despite the conclusion of the Grammy Awards, many of the guests did not stop celebrating.
Artists like Jason Mraz, Akon, Bono, Wyclef Jean, Carlos Santana, Enrique Iglesias, Usher, Toni Braxton, Lady Gaga, and others were scheduled to start working on a new version of the charity song “We Are the World” to benefit earthquake recovery in Haiti.
Quincy Jones announced the revival of the 1985 hit, and RedOne, a producer, expressed his honor to be asked to participate, emphasizing that this initiative is not about personal gain but about supporting Haiti.
