Emily in Paris heartthrob Lucien Laviscount has expressed his interest in stepping into the shoes of James Bond following Daniel Craig’s departure.

The 31 year old actor, best known for his role as Emily’s love interest Alfie in the popular Netflix series, is keen to explore more action-packed roles and believes he could be a worthy successor to Daniel’s 007.

Since Daniel’s final appearance in No Time To Die, released in September 2021, speculation has been rife about who will take on the iconic role.

Big names such as Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, multi-talented Idris Elba, Bridgerton’s Rege-Jean Page and Taron Egerton, who recently played Sir Elton John in Rocketman, have all been suggested as potential candidates.

However, it seems that Nowhere Boy and Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is married to rumoured next Bond director Sam Taylor-Johnson, is currently leading the race.

Lucien, who recently appeared as Shakira’s love interest in her latest music video, has expressed a desire to play the iconic role of James Bond.

Chatting with Us Weekly, he confessed: “I think, at some point, to play James Bond would be the ultimate. I’d love to dive into more action roles.

We shot a movie last year that was one fight sequence after another, with explosions going off left and right. I absolutely loved it.”

Even if James Bond isn’t on the cards for him, Lucien is clearly keen on taking up action-packed Hollywood roles; he starred in the sci-fi drama Last Sentinel last year and an action thriller Copperhead that’s due to hit our screens soon.

Fans will also be pleased to note that Lucien will reprise his role as Alfie in the upcoming fourth season of Emily in Paris, which will premiere in two halves – the first chunk drops on August 15 and part two will be available from September 12, reports the Mirror.

Many insiders believe that the Bond role practically belongs to Aaron Taylor-Johnson, with one source telling The Sun : “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it.

The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back. As far as Eon [Productions, who make the films] is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start prepping for the big announcement.”

When questioned about whether he would fill Daniel Craig’s stylish Bond shoes after his 15-year stint, Aaron gave nothing away, reportedly stating: “I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment.”
