A casting agency has quit working with Sylvester Stallone on his TV series ‘Tulsa King’ after accusing the Rocky legend of being brutally mean to the extras; including calling them ‘f***ing ugly’, ‘tubs of lard’, and demanding they be replacing with ‘pretty young girls’. Apparently you’re not allowed to do that?
Rose Locke Casting of Atlanta was hired to find actors ages 18 and over for the second season of Tulsa King, in which Sly plays a mafia boss who just got out of prison.
It wasn’t long before the extras were sharing stories about their experiences on set on a Facebook page for Atlanta-based extras; with one actor saying it “hurt his soul” to hear Sylvester Stallone describe him as “the fat guy with the cane”.
‘Background artist?’ Lol .. I guess ‘extra’ isn’t glamorous enough. Another extra claimed:
“I was there, right behind Mr. Stallone. He shouted to the director to come over here. Lot’s of F bombs dropped. Stallone was very upset with the look of the background actors.
Said they were hideous and old and fat. Next thing, people are being told to go back to holding and younger people were brought in.” …
In response, Tulsa King director Craig Zisk told TMZ that no insults were hurled at the extras on the set, but he also said that Rose Locke Casting brought in older background actors who should have been in their 20s and 30s for a scene in a hip bar, which effectively means the casting company weren’t doing their job probably.
If that’s the case, it makes sense that Sylvester Stallone was annoyed and demanded a change.
Although maybe he didn’t have to be such a d*ck about it to the extras (allegedly).
Then again, maybe a legend like Sylvester Stallone should be allowed to treat extras as badly as he wants to? Up for debate really.
