The Dutch strategist shared about the player who almost became his student at Old Trafford
In a recent interview, Andreas Pereira admitted that he decided to leave Manchester United in the summer without discussing it with coach Erik Ten Hag, even though the two had worked together at PSV Eindhoven.
Speaking at the press conference before the match against Fulham this weekend, when asked about Pereira’s statements, Ten Hag only confirmed that the midfielder had a reason to move to Fulham. Metro quoted the Dutch strategist:
“Andreas Pereira is a really good player.”
Pereira was praised by Ten Hag.
“I have known him for a long time, I had Pereira in my youth team at PSV, before he moved to Manchester United.”
“I’m really happy for Pereira, he’s progressing really well. I think it’s the right step for Pereira, because I think he needs to play regularly.”
“Pereira hasn’t done that for many years at Manchester United, there comes a time when you have to change.”
“Maybe you should take a step back to improve in the future and I think Pereira is doing very well, that’s quite clear, and so is Fulham. They are playing well.”
