According to People, after a period of research, the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) reported that the crowd danced during the Taylor Swift show at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, USA in August. /2023 creates earthquakes.

Western media called it Swift quake (roughly translated: Swift earthquake).

Researchers measured seismic phenomena on Thursday night of Eras Tours Los Angeles using motion sensors.

Analytical data from the wave length frequency monitoring chart shows that the dancing below of 70,000 spectators to Taylor Swift’s tune on stage caused an earthquake with the largest local intensity of 0.851. The above research is in an academic paper titled: Dancing to the Beat: Exploring Stadium Earthquake Signals from Concert Fans.

As noted by the Los Angeles Times, not only Taylor Swift, concerts of some A-list pop singers such as Beyoncé, Metallica and Morgan Wallen also caused earthquakes, but not significantly.

The Caltech and UCLA study is based on the findings of seismologist Jackie Caplan-Auerbach.

Previously, Jackie reported record attendance at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour at Lumen Field in Seattle, US in July resulted in a magnitude 2.3 earthquake. 

Currently, Western media calls the dance to Taylor Swift “Swift earthquake”.

As noted by the Los Angeles Times, not only Taylor Swift, concerts of some A-list pop singers such as Beyoncé, Metallica and Morgan Wallen also caused earthquakes, but not significantly.
