Fans were fooled by viral pH๏τos of Katy Perry walking the 2024 Met Gala red carpet.
As the event kicked off, pH๏τos flooded the internet of stars arriving to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Among the flicks, pictures of Katy Perry in a gorgeous nature-themed gown took over with fans celebrating the compliance to the Garden of Time dress code.
However, their hopes quickly crumbled because the pictures were totally phony.
In the faux pH๏τo, Katy appeared to stun with her long, black hair left cascading down past her shoulders. She appeared to wear a classic ballgown, adorned with flowers around the bodice.
The decorations tapered off down the skirt until the fabric pooled at her feet in a mossy and forest-floor display.
However, the picture was doctored and, in fact, the stairs that the pop star appeared to pose on were from a different year of the Met Gala.
The background on the pH๏τo didn’t match with 2024 decorations, allowing fans to clock the picture as a fake. Nonetheless, trolls continued to perpetuate the prank.
“KATY PERRY JUST CHANGED INTO A SECOND LOOK OH MY GOD,” a fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In another AI picture, Katy appeared to wear a metal bodice with a large key down the middle of her breasts. Her skirt was formed of grᴀss, flowers, and green stems.
Fans were disappointed by the stars’ interpretation of the dress code, so these pictures of Katy were well-received by fans who felt they stood up to the ᴀssignment.
Of course, since they were fake, fans’ dreams were totally crushed. A fooled fan wrote: “THIS IS WHAT I WAS HOPING TO SEE BASED OFF OF THE THEME MORE OF THE LOOKS SHOULD BE LIKE THIS.”
“Katy shut it down everybody can go home,” another added. A third said: “Two looks! Theme marvelously executed! It’s giving…hard to choose one!! No Future!!”
“This is AI, but would have definitely been one of the best looks if it were real,” a fan clarified. Other looks were shut down by fans for being too “gothic,” despite the light-hearted nature of a garden theme.
As for the exhibit debuting at the museum, fans can expect to see looks tagged Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.
