Pop icon Katy Perry recently revealed who she believes should take her place at the judges’ table alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.

Perry, who has been a staple of the American Idol judges’ table since its reboot in 2018, is set to leave the show after this season to embark on new career ventures.

In a post-live show interview with E! News on Monday, Katy Perry opened up about her American Idol journey.

“I get to experience the humanity of people and the growth of people in real-time. I get to see personal growth, kind of like a proud therapist of sorts…It just makes me feel super proud of the work that we get to do and what American Idol stands for these days.”

Perry also shared that her emotions have been intensifying with every episode, leading her to anticipate being utterly overwhelmed by the time the final episode airs.

“The emotion is real because the love is real.”

In a surprising revelation, Katy Perry has expressed her desire for the “amazing” singer Jelly Roll to take her place.

During a recent appearance on the show as a guest mentor, Jelly Roll captured not only the contestants’ hearts but also Katy Perry’s admiration.

Perry praised Jelly Roll’s authenticity and his knack for truth-telling, qualities she believes are crucial for an American Idol judge.

“I gotta say Jelly Roll was crazy when he came on the show. I was convinced at anything he said. He could run for president, he could be my pastor, I might go back to church for him.

He could sell me anything,” Perry expressed. “To have any of these guys plus Jelly on the show would be amazing.”

Ultimately, Perry’s main criterion for her replacement is their ability to be candid.

“I want a truth teller. I want someone that is not afraid to tell the truth in a graceful way.”

Perry’s endorsement of Jelly Roll has started conversations about what his addition to the panel might mean.

These concerns seem to be surrounding the musical genre diversity and gender representation among the judges.

The prospect of an all-male panel, including two country singers, certainly presents an intriguing scenario to consider.
