Macaulay Culkin’s estranged father Kit is in hospital after having a major stroke.

TMZ reports that Kit, who is 69, is still in intensive care and that the prognosis does not look good as he has lost most of his motor functions.

The website claims that family members have been asked to come to the hospital where Kit is residing.

Emergency services apparently responded to a call from Kit’s home in Grants Pass, Oregon, shortly after 1pm on Tuesday.

Macaulay and his father, a former stage actor whose real name is Christopher, have been estranged for several years.

It is believed that the pair cut ties due to a feud over Home Alone star Macaulay’s multimillion dollar fortune.

Macaulay, now 33, is worth an estimated $15million and has been estranged from his dad since his parents’ split.

The former child actor’s father and mother, Kit and Patricia, separated in 1995, and Patricia filed for custody of the minor children.

Patricia accused Kit of ‘excessive drinking, physically abusive and unfaithful behaviour’, allegations which Kit’s lawyer Donald Frank said were ‘not a significant issue’, People reports.

But instead of facing the claims in court Kit gave Patricia full custody, as Frank stated ‘he didn’t want it to turn into a circus.’

Despite their estrangement, Kit, who lives in Oregon with wife Jeanette Krylowski, spoke out about his fears amid claims Macaulay was abusing drugs in 2012.

Kit told The Sun at the time: ‘I hope that he has the right people looking after him,’ while Jeanette added they were scared Macaulay was ‘dying of some disease or heavily into drugs’.

Macaulay is the third eldest of seven children – five boys and two girls. His sister Dakota tragically died in 2008 aged 29 after being hit by a car.
