Help is on the way for Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Cincinnati Bengals are expected to sign veteran offensive tackle Trent Brown to a one-year contract, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday.
It’s not yet known what the value of Brown’s contract will be with the Cincinnati Bengals.
This could be a high-upside move for the Cincinnati Bengals that helps out Joe Burrow. The 6-foot-8 blocker has played well when available.
Brown, who turns 31 next month, spent the past three seasons with the New England Patriots after having previously played three years with the San Francisco 49ers, one in New England, and then two with the Raiders earlier in his career.
Brown was limited to 11 games with the New England Patriots in 2023 due to injuries. He also had his commitment called into question at times as well.
He was a No. 11 grade among tackles from Pro Football Focus and the second-best mark at the position in one-on-one situations, per Next Gen Stats.
The Patriots reacquired Brown from the Raiders in 2021, after his then-record right tackle deal did not pan out for Las Vegas.
The team never really tried to re-sign him this offseason and has yet to add a left tackle through free agency.
Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow’s 2023 Season Was Cut Short Due To Injury
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is still recovering from a torn wrist ligament that ended his 2023 campaign after 10 games.
His season-ending injury was suffered on November 16h in the team’s Week 11 loss to Baltimore.
Last season, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft, completed 66.8% of his passes for 15 touchdowns and six interceptions, according to ESPN.com.
