Back in February, the Philadelphia Eagles were chosen to play in the NFL’s first-ever game in Brazil in Week 1 on Friday, September 6 to kick off their 2024 regular season. However, we still had no clue who their opponent would be traveling out there with them for the matchup.
We seemingly now know the answer to that question.
One Browns player says Cleveland will be the visiting team for that game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.
Browns defensive tackle Maurice Hurst made the statement while appearing on the team’s Cleveland Browns Daily Show.
“We’re playing in Brazil this year,” Hurst said.
Hurst, who recently re-signed with Cleveland, appeared Monday on ESPN Cleveland’s show Cleveland Browns Daily to talk about his new deal when the conversation shifted to that Philadelphia Eagles game.
The Browns have been rumored to be the team facing the Eagles and now we seem to have confirmation. It should be noted, however, that the NFL has not announced who the Eagles’ opponent will be.
Last month, Peter King of Pro Football Talk wrote that he was “Feeling good about Cleveland-Philadelphia in Brazil on the evening of Friday, Sept. 6.”
As for Hurst, he finished the 2023 campaign on injured reserve with a pectoral injury, but prior to his injury, he recorded 22 tackles, including 1.5 sacks, while also adding an interception among three pass defenses and a fumble recovery over 13 games in his first season with the Browns.
Philadelphia Eagles Had a Great Start & Horrible Ending To The 2023 Season
The Philadelphia Eagles desperately want to show the type of team they can be after what happened last season.
They were 10-1 and had the best record in the NFC by two games, well on their way toward claiming home-field advantage for the second year in a row. Then the wheels proceeded to fall off as the Philadelphia Eagles lost five of its last six games to close the season, losing to some bad football teams in the process.
They would finish off the campaign by losing in their Wild Card matchup on the road to the Tampa Bay Bucs.
