In the world of sports, players receive a lot of criticism on a daily basis, may it be due to poor performance, getting into altercations with players, making a bold statement or disagreeing with one, It never stops and the players are used to it.
The same is the case with the NBA, as the professionals face criticism daily but they’ve learned to accept it and to live with it. Sometimes, teammates or fans stand up for the players during harsh times and defend their colleagues in times of need.
DeMarcus Cousins blames LeBron James over criticism received by Anthony Davis
Former NBA all-star center DeMarcus Cousins gives his opinions on his former teammate Anthony Davis and why he faces so much criticism. According to Cousins, being teammates with one of the greatest players ever to play the game, LeBron James, in the Los Angeles Lakers contributes to Davis’s criticism, as does the fact that he plays for LA, which has a tough fan base.
Boogie Cousins said, “I think it comes with the environment, Obviously being teammates with one of the greatest to ever touch – definitely on the Mount Rushmore of players in LeBron James – when things go bad, we all know it’s a list of guys that’s gonna be blamed before it gets to the best player on the team – or one of the best to ever play. And that’s just the environment. On top of that, he plays for the Lakers. They have a tough fan base.”
Davis’ performance this season compared to LeBron
Anthony Davis has been healthier and has had a rock-solid season for the LA Lakers so far in the 23–24 regular season. He’s averaging a double-double with 24.4 points per game and 12.3 rebounds, along with 3.6 assists and 2.4 blocks this season. He’s shooting 55.4% from the field.
James, on the other hand, is averaging 25.5 points per game with 7.2 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game on 53.2% field goals. He is shooting slightly below what Davis is shooting. Even though James is averaging more points than Davis, he is 60 points behind Davis in total points scored this season.
Anthony Davis and LeBron James
Davis played 8 games without James this season and in those games, he averaged 28.1 points per game, with 12.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists. This season was different for Davis, as he overcame his injuries from last season and has played like the beast that he is and we hope to see him play like this in the postseason as well.
