The West’s last seeding San Antonio Spurs have turned up the heat in the last few games. They took out the Phoenix Suns without the help of Victor Wembanyama. Next up, they face the New York Knicks tonight in the AT&T Center at 8 PM ET. While the Spurs have nothing to lose in the remainder of the season, the Knicks have to make the most out of it to stay out of the Play-in tournament.

The Knicks are currently in the 3rd seed of the Eastern Conference with a 44-28 record. While it seems like they are in a safe spot, they have five other teams tailing them with a similar record. So, losing a game or two would drag them to the 6th spot. On top of it, they have been playing the last 20 games without a healthy roster. However, the Spurs also have a short-handed side ahead of tonight’s clash, as per their injury report.
Wemby, who missed the game against the Suns, is available but, the team has two other players on the injury list. The team’s trusted forward, Keldon Johnson has been listed in the Questionables category with a right knee injury. Along with him, the team ruled out the two-way contract player, Sidy Cissoko.

On the other hand, the Knicks miss two of its big men again. Julius Randle and OG Anunoby. Randle has been out for a long time with a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, the team ruled out Anunoby for tonight’s game with an elbow injury.
Despite that, the Knicks produced a blow-out victory against the Toronto Raptors in their last game. Jalen Brunson, the rising superstar in the franchise, has been single-handedly carrying the team in the absence of the big men. Similarly, the Spurs big man, Victor Wembanyama also came under the scanner for injuries multiples.
Victor Wembanyama – injury concerns
The French star is truly on the run to clinch the Rookie of the Year trophy with his impressive average of 20.7 points per game. Despite his brilliance, the star’s team failed to assist him with better performance on the court. At the same, Wemby also has a growing injury concern.
20-year-old sustained a right ankle injury earlier in this season. Following that, HC Gregg Popovich extensively brought down the minutes and restricted the star from playing back-to-back games. Even though Popovich had pulled out the restrictions later, it is still a major concern. For instance, Stephen Curry suffered an ankle injury in his rookie season and it has been still haunting him.
Will Wembanyama take his team to playoffs next season? Let us know in the comments.
