During the Los Angeles Lakers’ hunt for a new head coach, longtime NBA commentator Bill Simmons had harsh thoughts regarding LeBron James’ and the team’s future. The California-based squad wants to improve with the group they may play with in the upcoming season. Meanwhile, some think that even with massive changes, the team won’t improve much.

Despite finishing the season as the seventh seed, the Lakers were unsuccessful this year. Even though the team’s postseason run was excellent, not many people had anticipated them to win the Western Conference. The LeBron James-led Lakers also had to play in the 2024 NBA Playoffs’ opening round against the Denver Nuggets.

In their seven-game series against the freshly ousted reigning champs, LeBron James’s Lakers only prevailed in one of the games ever since the company began finding a new head coach to succeed the recently sacked Darvin Ham,

Regardless of the head coach the Lakers choose, Simmons doesn’t think they will be successful or accomplish anything with their present team. “The Lakers are f**king done. Put a fork in them. It’s over. They’re in the same conference as Minnesota, Dallas, OKC and [Victor] Wembanyama.” he said.

One of this season’s biggest surprises has been the Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves ascension. Furthermore, the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic have exceeded all expectations.

JJ Redick Is Rumored to Be the New Lakers Head Coach Leading LeBron James & Co.

There have been reports about former NBA player JJ Redick, who the Lakers are considering as their new head coach. As a result of their joint “Mind the Game” podcast, Redick and LeBron James have grown friends.

In their most recent edition, the ESPN commentator made light of the head coaching rumors while joking with the four-time winner.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that LeBron James is not a candidate for the Lakers’ head coaching position. The superstar often has some say over the coach he wants on the squad.
