LeBron JamesLOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – MARCH 08: LeBron James #23 and Rajon Rondo #9 of the Los Angeles Lakers celebrate a basket and LA Clippers foul during a 112-103 win at Staples Center on March 08, 2020 in Los Angeles, California.

LeBron James, the 20-time NBA All-Star and 4-time NBA Champion always has something to say that makes the basketball world put their thinking cap on.

This time, the Los Angeles Lakes Superstar has few questions about former Celtics point guard and NBA Legend Rajon Rondo, who is considered to be one of the most underrated players of all time.

LeBron James backs Rajon Rondo for coaching job

King James named Rajon Rondo as a player with high-level basketball IQ on the first episode of his podcast ‘Mind the Game’ with JJ Redick and the 20-time All-Star said that he wonders why he isn’t coaching in the NBA.

James said, “Rajon Rondo, for sure. He can process flip, do things on the go, like that. It is very weird to me that he is not coaching at a high level. I think it is because he doesn’t want to do it. It is a lot, it is a lot and who wants to deal with all these rich entitled guys all the time? It’s just a weird thing, man, it’s just a weird thing.”

LeBron’s current teammate and an NBA Superstar himself, Anthony Davis also said recently that he also wonders why a legend like Rajon Rondo is not an NBA coach.

Rondo’s Lakers career

Rajon Rondo had an illustrious NBA career as he won the championship two times and also was a 4-time NBA All-Star. Rondo averaged 9.8 points, 7.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game in his 16-year long career.

However, during his time with the Lakers, Rajon Rondo was clearly out of his prime as he averaged only 7.3 points, 6.0 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 112 games for the Lakers in his career. Rajon Rondo retired in 2022, after playing his last game with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Rajon Rondo is a name that will send many into nostalgia, as no one can forget his amazing clutch gameplays for the Boston Celtics when he was in his absolute prime.

We know that how much power King James’ words hold in the NBA and if he has set his mind into something, he is likely to get it done. And right now, he has his eyes set on Rajon Rondo as the Lakers Coach. Rondo might be an ideal replacement to the current Lakers Head Coach Darvin Ham, who is getting criticized constantly.
