The Los Angeles Rams have provided a concerning injury update on superstar running back Kyren Williams in the early stages of OTA offseason workouts.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Rams head coach Sean McVay announced that Kyren Williams will miss the offseason workout program after suffering a foot injury. However, he’s expected to return in time for training camp.
McVay did not specify Williams’ foot injury. The third-year running back missed seven games in his rookie year with a broken foot he suffered in the offseason.
Williams stayed healthy in the 2023 season and put together a breakout campaign, racking up 1,144 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns despite missing five games. Williams also had 206 receiving yards and three rushing scores, leading the Rams to a 10-7 finish and postseason appearance.
The other running backs on the Rams’ depth chart consist of rookie and former Michigan Wolverines star Blake Corum, veteran Boston Scott and 25-year-old Ronnie Rivers.
Fortunately, Kyren Williams should be recovered and fully healthy ahead of training camp, giving him plenty of time to get back to 100 percent ahead of the Rams’ Week 1 opener against the Detroit Lions on “Sunday Night Football.”
Kyren Williams & Rams Look To Build Off Surprise 2023 Season
The Rams were widely expected to be one of the worst teams in the NFC last season, but they exceeded expectations by finishing 10-7 to lock down the sixth seed in the conference. Los Angeles gave Jared Goff and the Lions (Matthew Stafford’s old team) a scare in the Wild Card Round, but they dropped a heartbreaker by a final score of 24-23.
Though losing Aaron Donald to retirement hurts, the Rams added several notable impact veterans in Kamren Curl, old friend Darious Williams and former Buffalo Bills All-Pro corner Tre’Davious White. The first-round selection of Jared Verse should also strengthen an LA defense that showed considerable improvement last year.
