Dallas Mavericks fans will never forget the stunning play of Luka Doncic in Game 2, which propelled their Western Conference Finals win. With his stellar performance, Doncic has become the fourth player in NBA history to record four triple-doubles in a five-game span during the Playoffs, joining the elite company of Nikola Jokic, Magic Johnson, and Wilt Chamberlain.
Doncic’s performance was nothing short of heroic. Without his last-minute heroics, the Mavericks’ victory would have been far from assured. With just 3.0 seconds remaining, Doncic hit a remarkable step-back three-pointer over Rudy Gobert, sealing the Mavericks’ 109-108 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night. This clutch play not only secured the win but also cemented his reputation as one of the most formidable players in the league.
“First to four. Nothing’s won. You’ve just got to think about the next game — not in the future, just this game,” Doncic said following the game.
As the series heads back to Dallas, the Mavericks hold a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals against the Timberwolves. The home-court advantage, combined with the momentum from their recent victories, will surely help them start Game 3 with the hope of another win.
Luka Doncic Rubs Salt in Wounds of Timberwolves with Vulgar Taunt
After the Mavericks secured a narrow victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Luka Doncic wasted no time adding insult to injury for their opponents. Following the win, Doncic couldn’t resist taunting the Timberwolves, shouting, “YEAH, GO HOME B*TCH!”
The night was a nightmare for the Timberwolves, largely due to Doncic’s outstanding performance on the court. Throughout his playoff career, Doncic shot an impressive 47.1% from beyond the arc in clutch situations, the fourth-highest percentage in NBA history.
After shining in Game 1 with Patrick Mahomes’ prediction, Doncic’s play was spectacular in Game 2 as well. He ended the game by contributing 32 points, nine rebounds, and 13 assists to lead the Mavericks to victory.
Doncic’s impact in the Conference Finals has already etched his name in the record books, as he now ranks among the top 20 all-time in terms of 30+ point games in Conference Finals history.
With Doncic continuing to dominate on the court, the Timberwolves must devise a new strategy and bolster their lineup before facing him again in Game 3.
