The New Orleans Saints have made their feelings clear on their new quarterback, Spencer Rattler, amid talk of character concerns.

The Saints selected Rattler as the 150th overall pick, scooping him out of the fifth round of last month’s NFL Draft.

While the former South Carolina signal-caller wasn’t among the top QB prospects of the recent class, he wasn’t expected to slip as far.

Rattler’s attitude came under question after a clip from the Netflix series, ‘QB1: Beyond The Lights’ went viral. He was also understood to show some bad form after Lincoln Riley made Caleb Williams the starter over him following some early struggles at Oklahoma in 2021.

The QB transferred to South Carolina and managed to rebuild his image. However, he was never able to live the video down.

The Saints, though, insist they have no problems with it.

The New Orleans Saints Had “Zero Problems”

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler revealed having spoken to someone at the organization who disclosed that there was never an issue with Rattler despite the supposed concerns.

“The slide to the fifth round was unexpected,” Fowler said on SportsCenter in quotes transcribed by On3. “There was some stuff about the character from his high school days in a documentary that wasn’t flattering. I talked to the Saints about that with somebody there. They said they had zero problems with it.

“He had clearly matured from all that, it really didn’t come up all that much in their team interviews of Rattler. So at that point in the fifth round, they just thought they were getting really good value and this could be their number two quarterback behind Derek Carr.”

Spencer Rattler has an opportunity to become a starting quarterback for the Saints in the future, and time will tell whether he makes the best of it.

For now, he’s looking to make an impression at the team’s rookie minicamp, which kicked off on Friday.
